A questionnaire developed by the researcher-- “A Survey on the Elementary School Teachers’ Professional Economic Literacy in Taichung City” was given to in-service elementary teachers in Taichung City. A total of 411 valid questionnaires of the 450 distributed were returned, with 91.33% return rate. The data was analyzed by means of descriptive analysis in SPSS, t-test, one-way ANOVA and the Pearson''s correlation coefficient. The major findings from this study are listed as follows: 1. The degree of economic concepts acquired by elementary school teachers in Taichung City was mid-to-low. The teachers score higher in microeconomics than in macroeconomics. 2. The degree of professional economic literary acquired by elementary school teachers in Taichung City was high-to-mid. The teachers score the highest in their devotion to work and they score the lowest in their classroom management and counseling techniques. 3. Teachers with economic or managerial disciplinary background have a higher degree of cognitive awareness in economic concepts. 4. Teachers with economic or managerial disciplinary background have a higher degree of cognitive awareness in professional economic literacy. 5.
