The valid return rate of questionnaires was 87.64% and the valid sample was 482 students. The statistics used in the present study were ANOVA, Pearson correlation,cananical correlation ,and hierarchical regression.The results were as the following. 1.The students’ perceived parenting showed that maternal parenting style received higher scores than the father parenting style. 2.There were middle to high level of students’ emotional intelligence. 3.There were significant differences in parenting in terms of the background variables such as grade, gender, and family structure. 4.There were significant differences in emotional intelligence in terms of the background variables such as grade and gender. 5.There was a significant positive correlation between parenting and emotional intelligence. 6.Parenting styles could significantly predict emotional intelligence.
