The protection function can protect the LED driver while the LED short circuit or open circuit faults occur. And it can automatically restart after the abnormal situations (LED short circuit or open circuit) are removed. This design uses a two stage converter.The first stage is a single stage flyback PFC (Power- Factor- Correcton) converter, and the second stage is a buck converter, which has the dimming function. The dimming control can change the brightness more smoothly by using nonlinear dimming curve for adjustment, this function can also be executed by smart phone via a Bluetooh module. Finally, this design of the LED driver with protection function and remote dimming fuction has applied to a 36W light module.By the results of the test, the LED driver has a wide range of input voltage from AC 90V to 240V, and high power factor and high efficiency.
