| Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 設計暨藝術學院碩士班 === 100 === A traditional crafts are characterization of civilian life or culture. as the old saying goes,“Tainan as number one city, followed by Lukang and Monga,” Lukang is the city where a wide variety of traditional crafts and well-known talented craftsmen aggregate. As time goes by, the splendor of traditional craft industry has started to fade away, local clubs volunteer to promote the cultural event of Lu-Ban feast in an attempt to revive traditional craft culture and recover past glory.
The present study aims to discuss the interactive effects of Lukang Lu-Ban feast and local traditional crafts. firstly, literature review was conducted to analyze Lukang Lu-Ban feast as well as traditional crafts. Subsequently, interviews with craftsmen, questionnaire and statistical analysis were conducted to understand the roles, functions and historical development of Lukang Lu-Ban feast and also to construct the situations of Lukang traditional craft culture’s local characteristics, industry consumption, and culture inheritance. The results are concluded as below:
1.Lukang Lu-Ban feast has surpassed the level of religion and faith as it has been
elevated to the level of cultural promotion and continuation as a cultural event,
which has become a grand event of every year for the craft industry.
2.Lukang Lu-Ban feast is a stage for traditional craftsmen and also a conversation
window between craftsmen and civilian.
3.Based on traditional spirit, Lukang traditional craft industry has gradually become
creation-oriented and shaped characteristics for local industry.
4.Traditional crafts in Lukang have not only replaced mass production with high
quality as its primary consumption type but also have had a marketing tendency that
values quality, beauty, and brand image simultaneously in order to develop new
consumer market.
5.Traditional craftsmen in Lukang pass down their techniques deriving from the same
origin with a strict method that seeks for perfection and never stop to learn mind
discipline and pass down the essence. In addition to passing down through family
heritage from generation to generation, some craftsmen pass down craft culture by
written record and impartation.
