The goal is to find the influence of adding bamboo particles and the carbonization on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the composite. The compression, impact, three-point bending, heat preservation and abrasion tests were carried out for all material samples. Microstructures of the samples were conducted by using optical microscopes, scanning electron microscopes, and a thermal camera. The influence of dispersion and the material behavior was investigated. The results of experiment show that in the compression test, the sample of 30 wt% has the highest strength and modulus with or without heat-treatment. In the three-point bending test, the sample of 10 wt% without heat-treatment has the highest strength. When the weight fraction increases, both the strength and modulus are decreased, The 40 wt% sample can enhance the rate of temperature increase and the ability to keep warm, compared with the pure epoxy. The ability to keep the samples warm should have the excellent behavior without heat-treatment. In the impact test, we can get this phenomenon with increasing the weight fraction. The impact energy absorption is increased with the weight fraction for both with and without heat-treatment. After the heat-treatment, the abrasion loss is increased with the weight fraction.
