Dragon and Tiger Pagodas built by the Tzu-Chi Temple is one of the most fascinating constructions located on Lotus Pond and is on the list of the tourism programs proposed by the government all the time. Therefore, the Tzu-Chi Temple is so renowned that there are many worshippers and foreign tourists visiting frequently. In order to comprehend the special feature and the relationship of the beliefs between the Tzu-Chi Temple and people nowadays, we separate the study of the Tzu-Chi Temple into three parts in our thesis. First, we try to trace back the original history of the Tzu-Chi Temple. Second, we explore the development process of the religious beliefs via understanding the main god, Bao Sheng Da Di and the second gods in the Tzu-Chi Temple. Furthermore, we can observe the interaction between the pilgrims and the temple by the activities of worship on festivals. Third, we can understand how to appreciate the merit of the art and culture of the Tzu-Chi Temple with the aid of investigating the temple’s architecture, cultural relics and decoration. The study of the Tzu-Chi Temple with the assistance of the different aspects as mentioned before provides people lots of opportunities to understand the Tzu-Chi Temple thoroughly so that people can fulfill a further research on topics of folk beliefs in Taiwan. 蔡翊鑫 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 103 zh-TW
