The high turnover rate increases the recruiting cost, training cost, nursing personnel mental pressure and their workload and these factors decline the nursing care quality. Thus, the purpose of this study was to realize the condition and relation of nurses’ personality characteristics, job satisfaction and turnover intention. Convenient sample math was used in this study. The targets were nursing in Certain Southern regional teaching hospital . Before a pilot survey was performed to validate the questionnaire, There were 451 usable responses with a 88.4% acceptable samples. This study was using the SPSS 12.0 for Windows as a tool for statistical analysis. Frequency distribution, Descriptive statistics, T-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation were used for research methods, this research finds several important results as follows: 1.Nurses’ different variables would significantly affect their job satisfaction.(such as age, marriage, number of children, in-service education, exercise habits,years of service, clinical ladder system, day and night shifts, divisions). 2. Nurses’ different variables would significantly affect their turnover intention.(such as years of service, clinical ladder system, divisions ). 3.Nurses’ personality characteristics have significant relationship on the job satisfaction. 4.Nurses’ personality characteristics have significant relationship on the turnover intention. 5.Nurses’ job satisfaction has significant relationship on the turnover intention. Practical implications of the results in nursing retention and recruitment are discussed.
