Description
Summary:碩士 === 義守大學 === 工業管理學系 === 100 === Recently global recession in semiconductor industry has lead to mergers, layoffs, and outsourcing, so plenty of domestic manufacturers are forced to move their operations out of the country. Taiwanese semiconductor industry has been facing new competitive environment such as difficultly gaining resources. Therefore, how to effectively apply limited resources to produce good outputs is an important issue to most firms. In recent years, the data envelopment analysis method (DEA) has successfully used to assess performance effectiveness with multiple inputs and multiple outputs in many areas. In this thesis, we apply the data envelopment analysis method to asses performance evaluation for firms of Taiwanese semiconductor industry. Taiwanese semiconductor industry consists of IC design, IC manufacturing, and IC packaging and testing sub-industry and each one is classed into two or three groups with concerning the similarity among firms by firm’s scales with an ABC clustering like method. Evaluating Input and output items are filtered by literature review and correlation analysis for each group. The CCR and BCC modes of the DEA method, Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI), as well as slack variables analysis method are applied to assess firms’ performance effectiveness. Our founding is that the majority ineffectiveness factors of most firms because are technical or scale inefficiency.
