Description
Summary:碩士 === 義守大學 === 管理學院管理碩士在職專班 === 100 === The purpose of this study was to compare with quality of life (QOL) in patients with colorectal cancer receiving chemotherapy from sites of in-hospital, outpatient, and combined inpatient and outpatient, and identify the predictors of patients’ QOL. Using a cross-sectional and correlational study design, 144 patients undergoing chemotherapy regimens of colorectal cancer were recruited from a medical center in southern Taiwan. Data was collected from 01 March, 2012 to 30 May, 2012 with structured questionnaires including: EORTC QLQ-C30, Symptom Distress Scale, Self-care of chemotherapy, patients’ personal characteristics, and disease related variables. The results indicated that the symptoms distress after chemotherapy was higher in in-patients than outpatients and combined two sites patients. Self-care demands were higher in outpatient than in-patients and combined two sites patients. The three dimensions of quality of life (physical function, role function, and social function) were better in outpatients than in-patients and combined two sites patients. In stepwise regression model, five factors were the predictors of overall quality of life, included marital status (5.0%), symptom distress (4.0%), self-care (4.0%), high school of educational level (3.0%), and gender (3.2%), and account for 18% total variance. This study might provide appropriate educational care, to improve the quality of patient care. Health care professionals are responsible to provide appropriate nursing intervention to decrease the symptom distress level, and to enhance patient’s self-care and quality of life.
