The electromagnetic fields are expressed as the summation of space harmonics. In this study, we use five derivation types to express the Maxwell equations. By matching the boundary condition, we can obtain the characteristic equation of Fiber Bragg Gratings. The function of the characteristic equation are calculated in the thesis.
