Comparing to the original barcode that stores data linearly, QR code can store information both horizontally and vertically. Barcode is limited to its storage capacity so it is used to tag items without descriptions. The limitation leads to dependency on internet and data base. Thus, when computer network and data base is not available, barcode would be not so handy. QR code is then become applicable for inventory. This research purpose is to combine the convenience of QR code and Handheld Mobile Device (HMD) to create a new stocktaking app system. The result is expected to increase inventory efficiency for NH Company. Personal HMD is used as data collecting platform that encourages more users without restricted by physical facilities. Also, by mobile internet and wireless technique, users can reach the correct information of the item in no time. It fulfills immediacy and accuracy. On the other hand, because stocktaking information is stored in company database, it offers the possibility of self-inventory and inquiry. It can solve the problem of late updates and increase inventory efficiency.
