Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 商務經營研究所 === 100 === This study uses the Trade Performance Index, developed by International Trade Centre, as the basis to evaluate the compatibility and export performance of the steel fastener industry in Taiwan and all its data come from ITC databases. This study closes in on these cases between 2001 to 2010, with complete export and import records, and with annual export yields over USD1,000,000 consistently. This study explores how the steel fastener industry in Taiwan competes with the other 48 countries using the seventeen indexes from their current performance, general profile, and decomposition of changes in the world market share. The study has the findings about between 2001 and 2010 in these three fields respectively, (1) Current Performance: Taiwan ranked the top third to fifth places among the 49 countries, and Germany and Switzerland have been consistently the number one and number two in the ranking; (2) General profile: the export value of the steel fastener industry in Taiwan still has significant growth, but it will be overtaken by other newly developed industrious countries soon if Taiwan cannot upgrade or diversify its production process or its quality-upgrading of the products; (3) The decomposition of changes in the world market share: the two factors influencing the market share of Taiwan steel fastener industry are competitiveness effect and initial product specialization. The adaptation effect slightly changes and initial geographic specialization has flat line growth. To conclude, the steel fastener industry in Taiwan occupies a top-notch compatibility and performance indexes in global market share, with the weaker indexes in relative unit values, product diversification, and market diversification. They are also the main reasons for weakening competitiveness effect, initial geographic specialization, and initial product specialization resulting from market share analysis, at a time when Taiwan is losing its share in the global market.
