The core value is to cultivate the ability of students,not just only knowledge.However, decade of education reform in the past,the lesson pressure of student not only didn't ease,but there is a worsening trend.To improve the difficult position which research purpose in mind mapping as a learning tool, guides students to use mind map in the Social Science’s learning. The research focuses on how the Mind map’s teaching fits in the Social Science for the 4th graders in the elementary school, and how it influences students’ academic achievement . The main goals are, (1) Discuss how the mind map’s teaching affects the 4th grade students’ academic achievement in Social Science. (2) Discuss how the mind map’s teaching affects the 4th grade students’ learning attitude in Social Science. The research adopts the nonequivalent pretest-posttest experimental design of quasi-experiment. Take one 4th-grade class in Yulin county as the object of the research, 27 students are in the experimental group; 29 students are in the controlled group. The mind map’s teaching activity is applied to the former group. The traditional traching is applied to the latter group. In experimental group, the total periods are 24. There are 2 periods in each week and it lasts 12 weeks. The academic achievement、questionnaire、teaching observation、students’ interviews are used in the research. The “quantity” and “quality” data should be put in the discussion of one-way Anova and the number of percentage. Then we can see the influence on the student with observing teachings and interviewing the students. The results of the research are, (1) Mind map’s teaching method has a great influence on the students’ academic achievement in social study, Because before the experiment, there is no obvious differences in pre-test scores between the experimental and controlled groups. After the experimental teaching method, the post-test scores of the students in experimental group are much higher than those of in the controlled group. (2) Students hold positive attitude toward the “mind map’s teaching method” used in social study teaching classes. Obviously this teaching plan fits the 4th-grade students for the Social Science’s learning. (3) The analysis of mind map’s teaching in Social Science, it’s helpful for students to learning. According to the results of this research, the researcher provides suggestions in hopes that these may serve as future references for teachers and researchers.
