Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 企業管理學系碩士班 === 100 === This study examined how the impression management tactic perceived by supervisor influence leadership style to their subordinate’s behavior. The other purpose of this study is to examine the influence of work motivation to impression management and its role to moderator leadership style and impression management tactics. 202 paired data were collected from supervisor and subordinate in various industries in two major cities in Indonesia (Bogor and Jakarta). This research findings revealed that Impression Management tactic strategies theory helps better explain the relationships between leader and subordinate in Indonesian work environment. This study also shown that the work engagement is influenced by IM self-focused tactics and IM supervisor- focused tactics.. Secondly, our research findings proved that strong authentic leadership is in line with work engagement with the mediating effect of IM Self-focused and IM Supervisor-focused. Also there is a moderator effect of work motivation between authentic leadership and IM supervisor-focused tactics.
