Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 教育研究所碩士在職專班 === 100 === Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the job stress for those directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten in New Taipei City, Taiwan and their coping strategies. Based upon the overloading of their work as days go by, those directors cannot deal with the administrative operations of kindergarten and the teaching quality simultaneously. Therefore, the study analyzes those directors’ job stress and their coping strategies in the current situation by different background variables (age, the administrative service years, and school size). The method of this study is quantitative survey. The subjects of this study are those directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten in New Taipei City. This study was conducted by stratified random sampling. The number of the effective questionnaires is 145 with a valid-rate at 93.55%. The data are analyzed by using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and pearson product-moment correlation. The 5 results of this study are shown as follows: 1. “Work loading” of those directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten plays the highest on job stress. 2. “Seeking Support” as coping strategies is the most frequently used by those directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten. 3. Those who serve higher service years directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten have lower job stress than those younger directors and those directors who working on large-sized kindergartens have higher job stress. 4. The senior directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten more frequently chose “resolving problems” as coping strategy whereas those directors at smaller-sized kindergartens more frequently chose “procrastinating and evading” as coping strategy. 5. Those directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten prefer “procrastinating and evading” as coping strategy while they face more job stress. Finally, the implications of this study for education and future study are also discussed. Key words: directors at public elementary schools affiliated kindergarten, job stress, coping strategy.
