Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 教育研究所碩士在職專班 === 100 === This study intended to explore the relationship between self-concept and the prosocial behavior for the 5th and 6th grade public elementary school student in Taoyuan County.”Questionnaire of the Elementary School Student’ Self-Concept and Prosocial Behavior” was used to collect 1052 effective samples. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation and Scheffé posteriori comparisons. 1. The self-concept and the prosocial behavior of the 5th and 6th grade elementary school student in Taoyuan County were in above moderate level. 2. In the aspect of self-concept, females wrer better than males in the dimension of social self, and the males were better than females in the dimension of academicals self. 3. The 5th grade elementary school student evinced higher self concept than 6th graders. 4. Students with intact family had better self-concept than those came from single-parent family and other family type. 5. Students lived in county-controlled city showed higher self-concept and prosocial behavior than those in suburban and remote districts. 6. Females showed higher prosocial behavior than males. 7. The higher the self-concept of the elementary school student, the better their prosocial behavior was. Based on these findings, suggestions to educational authority, counseling institution and future study were presented.
