Many airlines around the world have taken measures to combat the difficulties and losses. However, Vietnam Airlines with the policies and the appropriate adjustments have been successful in a difficult time to earn which profit grew 18.6% over the same period last year. According to the ranking of journals by Skytrax UK, Vietnam Airlines has improved significantly in the ranking position of the airlines in the world. Vietnam Airlines has increased by 18 grades (from 2008) ranked 118 out of 167 rated airlines, above the well-known airlines such as Aeroflot (Russian Federation), KLM (Netherlands) , American Airlines (USA). In Southeast Asia and the Pacific, where is the focus of most of the top airlines in the world, Vietnam Airlines was ranked 45th out of 80 airlines (up three levels from 2008). In this context, the question how can Vietnam Airlines compete effectively in a challenging environment? What are the opportunities and what are the advantages of Vietnam Airlines and how to improve their competitiveness to survive and grow. Desiring to contribute a small part in the development of Vietnam Airlines, this thesis titled "Business development strategy of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation" is selected. This thesis presents the study of business strategy and measures to implement strategies to improve the competitiveness of Vietnam Airlines in the period from now to 2015. The business development strategy of Vietnam Airlines in the period 2010 to 2015 is also the main purpose of this study.To achieve this goal, this study aims at the following: (1) Development of Vietnam Airlines fleet. (2) Expanding the network of routes and destinations. (3) Strategies to promote the image, and policies to attract passengers to use the services of Vietnam Airlines during the period of 2010 to 2015 With the above purpose, the thesis identified the following research objectives: - Analyze the current status of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation (Vietnam Airlines) over the years to draw on strengths and limitations.  Analysis of environmental factors, opportunities, strengths and threats, weaknesses of Vietnam Airlines.  Based on the analysis of that study, we identified the prerequisites for strategic direction, as well as proposed solutions to the development of general aviation company in Vietnam.
