Also, majority of these studies investigated the definition of imagination and the process of generating imagination. Many scholars in the management field developed imagination related tests, but still lack of the practical verification for imagination. Therefore, this research used an “imagination competition”, hosted by a university located in northern Taiwan, to verify the influence of imagination on innovated result. The “imagination competition” had two stages, preliminary round and final round. Thus, this research divided into two studies to investigate the two stages. Study 1 used the preliminary round as the subject of the study, and investigated the influence and the magnitude of creativity and imagination on design performance. Study 2 used the final round as the subject of the study, and investigated the moderating effect of time pressure on the influence of creativity and imagination on design performance. In study 1, the preliminary round had 186 valid questionnaires from 190 participants. The hypothesis of study 1 was verified with questionnaire surveys and tests. The participants had to design a blueprint for the “future mobile phone” and were scored by the judges. In study 2, the top 50 participants of the preliminary round advanced to the final round, but there were only 30 valid questionnaires from 37 participants. The hypothesis of study 2 was also verified with questionnaire surveys and tests. The final round was divided into three stages. Participants had to complete the tasks within a given time, where time pressure was investigated, and then were scored by the judges. The research results discovered that: (1) creativity presents a significant positive influence on the design performance; (2) the effect of imagination on design performance approaches a significant positive influence; (3) creativity has a greater magnitude of influence than imagination on the design performance; (4) time pressure has a moderating effect on creativity. The research results concluded that imagination affects design performance to an extent. Therefore, this research suggests that occupations that require creativity, such as designer, artist, researcher, and et al, should concentrate on the training of creativity and imagination. Companies may include an imagination examination when recruiting new employees. Also, in order to maximize the employee performance, managers should give different time limit to them, according to their levels of creativity. Ching-Wen Wang 王精文 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 93 zh-TW
