碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 老年學研究所 === 100 === With the increasing rate of advanced age in Taiwan, the elders with dementia also increase hardly. There were 170 thousand people with dementia until 2011 in Taiwan. It reminds that our government has to pay more attention to the elderly social welfare of dementia care. Although Taiwan Ministry of the Interior has established and implemented policy about environmental design and care service for elders with dementia, there is not any suitable assessment to evaluate the environment they live. The purpose of this study is to translate the environmental evaluation of Professional Environmental Assessment Protocol (PEAP) which was developed in Japan to the environmental evaluation of the care unit for elders with dementia in Taiwan. Thus, this study includes translation, content validity index and questionnaire survey to investigate the supervisors and workers of fourteen care units with dementias in Taiwan. This study shows that the translation of Taiwan Dementia Environmental Evaluation with adequate validity. As it can be an appropriate assessment tool of care unit for elders with dementia, the environmental evaluation has to revise some important notices in the future. In addition to, group homes and dementia specialized care districts in Taiwan provide a proper care environment for people with dementia. Also, they have to set up their individual development priorities to improve quality of care services. In conclusion, the fundamental of Taiwan Dementia Environmental Evaluation for elders with dementia provides an important reference for group homes or dementia specialized care districts. Meanwhile, it can promote supervisors service mechanisms within the care units and establish professional license system for workers. Furthermore, to become the reference assessment to evaluate the environment for elders cares with dementia in the future.
