A Study of Community Services Facilities Distribution in Taiwan

碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 100 === According to the Eco-community evaluation system, the Taiwan’s communities are divided into three types: “urban”, “suburban” and “rural” community. There are three types of facilities of the category of “community function” in the evaluation system, which are “cultural and educational facilities”, “sport and recreational facilities” and “living convenience facilities”, this research which investigated and analyzes the services distances of 30 kinds of facilities in 80 community samples. The average distances facilities types for three kinds of community (“urban”, “suburb” and “rural”) are as following: for urban community: “cultural and educational facilities” is 373m, “sport and recreational facilities is 325m, living convenience facilities” is 338m; for suburb community : “cultural and educational facilities” is 519m, “sport and recreational facilities is 454m, living convenience facilities” is 332m; for rural community: “cultural and educational facilities” is 595m; “sport and recreational facilities is 270m; living convenience facilities” is 1745m. The differences between community characteristics are shown below: the suburban communities and urban communities are similar, with rather quantity and distance. This result can prove that the service facilities items of EEWH-EC are familiar in Taiwan’s community. The rural community is inconvenient in shopping and medical care. Its average distance of shopping is 2427m, which is much longer than the one for suburban (349m only). Supermarkets, convenience stores, post offices, stationery stores, bookstores, traditional markets are lacked and people need to go to neighbor suburban communities for these facilities. For medical care, in 30 rural samples, there are only seven communities supply clinics and pharmacies services. If those people living in rural community need medical care for regional hospital level, they are forced to go to suburban community, which average distance is 3488m.
