This research applied the qualitative research methodology (in-depth interview) to collect and collate the data. There are four respondents participated in the in-depth interview. The main findings are summaries as follows: 1) To analyze the characteristics of the immigration reasons of the female professional showed from being negative to positive and being passive to active. The difficulties faced by the mainland China professional female are such as qualification not being recognized, not finding a suitable job, language barrier, being away from families,lack of friends, a test on marriage and lastly, the pressure of being discriminated against. 2) The main characteristics of the mainland China professional female self-identity formation are: the priority of family responsibility, the relationship with significant others as the centre of self-identity, the sacrificed of one’s needs, to seek a balance between oneself, family, work and friends, the strong desire of self-worth and self-realization, more proactive link with the society, self exploration and enhance oneself. 3) The factors which affect the mainland China professional female self-identity formation are such as immigration event, important people, work, values, personality and religion. 4) The development of mainland China professional female immigrant self-identity formation is reflected in the discovery of new space, self-identity and life adjustment.
