| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立體育大學 === 休閒產業經營學系碩士班 === 100 === From the Japanese colonial era, Taiwanese people have a deep feeling with baseball. Therefore, government officials and private companies invest many resources to baseball industry to train more elite ball baseball players. Outstanding baseball players in Taiwan leave Taiwan to foreign league as a dream for seeking their further life careers. No doubtedly, for Taiwan's baseball industry impacted by the brain drain very much. This study attempted to adopt sustainable development point of view to explore the current status of the baseball industry in Taiwan which have impacted by the above mentioned situation, and the reasons for the elite baseball players who play overseas.. The researcher of this study used one-on-one in depth interviews questionnaire as a tool to interview 6 experts. As a based view of the player A then supplemented by the views of the other five experts, to present the current status of the baseball industry in Taiwan and the reasons which caused the brain drain of exellent players.
The results presented by four domains of sustainable development (environment, economic, social and institution). In the environment espect, the training type and community-based baseball field were needed, and the management quality of high leveld baseball field needed to be strengthened, and the coaches should get rid of the pressure of victory; in the economic domian, the lacking of effective packaging at the grassroots level baseball and the activities of the professional baseball team should be more variety to drive economic development; in the social domain, medical and insurance system were unable to complete due to the market is too small. The experts were strongly encouraged the players to go aboard but they ignored that Taiwan is still at the stage of brain drain at present.
Finally, for the implementation institution, players lacked of relevant knowledge, including the formulation of policies and regulations. Meanshile, the early specialization is also an issue which caused the elite players’ brain drain. However, in recent years, the efforts of the outflowed elite baseball players’s international interaction should be admired.
Therefore, compared to baseball industry advanced countries, there are many deficiencies in various aspects which caused the elite baseball Taiwanese players to join the overseas baseball franchises due to the small size of thebaseball market in Taiwan,, , Therefore, the author of this research suggested that the sport policies decision makers in Taiwan should draw up some awarding ordinance to encourage the overseas elite Taiwanese baseball players to return and stay in Taiwan, then to stimules the baseball industry development in a postitive situation.
