Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立體育大學 === 運動科學研究所 === 101 === Background: Skill training has been the major focused for Taiwanese tennis players. However, the differences between tennis related fitness and skill are not known. Purpose: Investigating the fitness and skills level differences between elite and normally trained tennis players. Method: subjects were 17(11 males and 6 females) division one tennis players from the local college tennis team with an age of 21.0±1.34( mean± SD) years of training: 9.3±1.3 and weekly training hours 15.7±2.5 . Subjects were grouped according to their national tennis ranking. Those who are within the top 50 were classified as the elite group and those who were below were classified as the normal group. Guidelines from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) were used for both fitness and skills assessment for all subjects. Testing include: Flexibility(Sit and reach); Muscular strength and endurance: grip strength, 1 minute sit up and 1 minute push up; Power: Vertical jump, medicine ball throws(forehand, backhand, overhead, backward throw); Speed agility: 20 yard sprint, hexagon agility test, spider run and side step agility. Cardiorespiratory fitness: 2.4 km. The outcomes of the test were then grouped into 4 different categories: Excellence, good, average and needs improvement. One way ANOVA was used to compare the differences between elite and normally trained tennis players and all data were analysis by SPSS 20.0(IBM). Results: outcome from one way ANOVA showed that elite and normally trained players were different in terms of the spider run, side step, sit and reach and medicine ball throw. Conclusion: Normal tennis players should focus on their weak tennis related fitness. However, if the elite group tennis players wish to become top ranked tennis players, then the testing outcome needs to be examined at the highest level because of developing individualized training program. However, so far the tennis fitness norms in Taiwan are not developed and therefore it is impossible for coaches to interpret the results from the fitness test.
