Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 法國語文學系 === 100 === Perrault’s fairy tale is a precious heritage in French literature. Charles Perrault rewrites the folk stories. His everlasting tales are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and his influence surpasses cultural and political boundaries. Perrault was an Academician, his tales are closely related to the Quarrel of the Ancients and the Moderns. Women, often a center of the debate, play an important role in the tales of Perrault. This thesis is a study of the women in Perrault’s tales based on the theory of narrative. This thesis begins with a study of the women’s departure and return. With the schéma quinaire, the tale can be divided into five stages : initial situation, disturbance, action, resolution and final situation. The second chapter focuses on Greimas’s schéma actantiel. We categorize three types of women according to their motivations behind the actions : the mission, the pursuit of love and/or the reversal of destiny and the satisfaction of desire. This categorization allows us to seize the interrelationship of the women and the other roles in their actions. In the third chapter, we divide the female roles into agents and patients. We attempt to analyze the women’s choices and decisions with the help of Bremond’s theory. We use a variety of narrative models and intend to explore Perrault’s tales in depth. However, we find that the use of narrative theory can not be applied completely to the tales. Nevertheless, with the narrative analysis, we are able to know more about the actions of female roles.
