Students are able to use their 3D avatars (virtual human) to navigate and engage in virtual world to train their problem-solving skills at anytime, anywhere. However, current 3D-VWL such as Second Life still lacks adequate support of collective intelligence mechanism such as social networking and recommendation which are vital elements of current successful Web 2.0. Therefore, this study intends to realize how social networking and recommendation mechanisms can be employed into 3D-VWL to make students learning more fun and enjoyable. We developed a 3D-VWL system with collective intelligence services containing two main components: recommendation and social networking based on the most popular Second-Life platform. We also proposed a research model to assess the key factors of learning effectiveness and satisfaction of our proposed system. The constructs of our model are mainly based on the assessment model for virtual reality learning model (Lee et al., 2010), e-learning success model (Holsapple & Lee-Post, 2006), and EGameFlow model (Fu et al., 2009). Empirical results of our study show that 3D virtual learning space has a positive impacts on the immersion of students and social interaction have a positive relation to learning effectiveness of students. The outcome of this study provides useful insight and implication for further development and design guidelines. 張隆池 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 100 zh-TW
