In addition, this study examines the corretinos between students’ work values and their career goals (i.e., future major and occupation goals). TWA’s six work values are used. A work value inventory of 42 needs (7 needs for each work value) was constructed by a research team of four graduate students and an assistant professor whose expertise is vocational psycholgy. 337 senior high school students ranked 42 needs on a 7-point scale according to the extent how the needs are importance to them. That is, 6 needs can be ranked as the same point. To obtain concurrent validity, the participants ranked the six values after reading the original definitions. The participants also stated their major and occupation goals in the study survey as the data for the correlation between their work values and career goals. The occupation work value profiles are the expert ratings of 7 graduate students on the 145 occupations derived from the occupation classification of the Department of Labor. Gamma coffiecient s are computed as the interrater reliability. To provide validity of the work value profiles, three sets of occupation work values are produced. The first set is the O*NET ratings. The second set is to have the 337 participants completed a work satification survey. The correlations between the participants’ satification results and work value results serve as the student-satisfaction work values (SSWV) for the 145 occupations. The research also recruited 100 senior high school students to rate the 6 work values on the 145 occupation. The validity is supported by the correlations of the work value ratings (expert ratings) with the O*NET ratings, SSWV, and the student ratings. Most of the correlations between the participants’ work values and their career goals are not significant. The weak relations between work values and career goals indicate the career goals are influenced by many other factors. In summary, this study has costrcuted a reliable and valid work value measure and a reference system. The implications and suggestions of this study are discussed in this dissertation. 鄧志平博士 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 109 zh-TW
