Three dimensions are explored: Channels of hiring those students, problems and difficulties encountered, and employers’ satisfaction. A self-developed questionnaire was adopted as the major survey instrument. The questionnaire was administered to 500 employers, of which 217 were received, resulting in a retrieve rate of 43.4%. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis and one-way ANOVA were applied, and the results are as follows: 1.The major channel for hiring mental retardation students is “through schools’ recommendations”. 2.There are more female employers than male. Most of the employers are aged between 31-50; most employers has less than 3 years employing experience; most of the hosting company are “family-run institutions”; Most of the hosting company are in food producing industry (73%), followed by service industry (55%) culinary industry (40%), and sanitary industry (31%). 3.The major intention for female and sanitary industry employers to hire mental retardation internship students is "fulfilling their social responsibility". 4.The inefficiency of school administration has deterred male employers from hiring special education students. 5.The employers who are female, running medium-sized companies, and working in food producing industries rate the lowest degree of satisfaction toward special education students’ internship. Based on the results of this study, recommendations are proposed to schools, governments, employers, and parents to improve the future special education intern programs.
