Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育學系研究所 === 100 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between teachers’ discipline styles and their counseling effectiveness. A self-designed questionnaire was used and the stratified samples were randomly selected from 16 junior high schools in Tainan city. The major findings were listed below: 1. The most frequently deviant behavior found with the junior high students was late submission of assignments; while the least severe deviant behaviors found were ruthless destruction of public utilities, class skip and school dropout. 2.The junior high students appeared having a more severe problem with the internal misbehavior than the external misbehavior. The overall deviant behavior was moderate. 3.Male students had the highest proportion of external deviation behaviors;while and female students had the highest proportion of internal deviation behaviors. Male students had a higher proportion of learning disturbance the females. 4.The proportion of external deviation behavior decreases with grade; while the proportion of internal deviation behavior increases with grade. The proportion of learning disturbance decreases with grade. 5.There was a significant interaction between gender and teacher discipline styles on the teacher-student relationship. 6.There was no significant interaction between years of working experience and teacher discipline styles on the teacher-student relationship. 7.There was a significant interaction between educational background and teacher discipline styles on the teacher-student relationship. 8.There was a significant positive correlation between teacher discipline styles and student deviant behaviors.
