This trend highlights a serious concern of labor force and defense human resources in the future. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the economic growth will affect on population structure; in other words, the economy will go into a prosperity cycle and the financial resource could be transferred to increase the defense expenditure when labor force is sufficient. The study adopted three-stage least squares method and simultaneous equation model to verify the interaction among population structure, economic growth, and defense expenditure. The data was gain in the period of 1974 – 2011. The result shows that there is a significant relation among population structure, economic growth, and defense expenditure; also, the result corresponds to the following statements: First, the population structure and economic growth are negatively correlated which means the aging population leads to the economy depression; on the other hand, the ecnomic growth will modify population structure. Secondly, the defense expenditure growth ratio and economic growth ratio are positively correlated; the economic growth will be improved through the rising of defense expenditure and the economic growth can be transfered to support defense expenditure. Third, the population structure and defense expenditure are positively correlated; the aging population structure might increase the defense expenditure and the increase of defense expenditure might be a factor that affects popolation structure.
