He is best known for his work of Yuanlin literature, which earned him great reputation. Ren-ko Ceng is not only a gifted poet but also a talented person of writing calligraphy. He was granted Awards for Excellence by Ministry of Education and Bureau of Cultural Affairs Kaohsiung City Government; moreover, he also won Nan-Ying Literature Creative Prize and Lan-Yang Literature Creative Prize. Though Ceng was born in a poor family, he was still strong and resilient no matter how difficult life was. He remained hard-working and contributed what he has learned to the society. This thesis aims to discuss the content and features of Ceng’s work. This thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one: Introduction, chapter 2: Ceng’s life and connection with friends, in chapter 3, Ceng’s poems are categorized to do an in-depth interpretation so readers can understand his work more clearly. Chapter 4 and 5: Discussion and appreciation on features and styles of Ceng’s poems, and the way he wrote these pieces. Chapter 6: Conclusion The idea of innovation is clear in all of Ceng’s work. Ceng produces his work through his observation of life and cares about what really happens in life; his work reflects the ugly side of politics and both the brightness and the darkness of the society. Instead of imitating, Ceng learns from the ancients and puts the essences of classic Chinese poems into his work, hence, his work is not a cliché but an epitome of the present.. He is influenced by Confucius that he believes his work should play a role in education and giving advices to readers. Hence, his work is different from some work which simply whines about life, instead, objectively and neutrally, he indicates what was wrong in life or politics through his work. Ceng’s work is philosophical and contains a wide variety of issues, including ethics, art, religion, and personal doubts, which shows Ceng tends to be metaphysical. Ceng, introspective and resilient, is very diligent and he always encourages others to be hard-working. Ceng hopes people’s life can be better and more comfortable. Ceng’s work is the perfect example of himself, sheer artist. Ting-kuo Cheng 鄭定國 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 223 zh-TW |
