碩士 === 南華大學 === 生死學系 === 100 === 　　This study attempted to discuss how the lesbian couples ensure each other’s lives and plan for their old age under the social welfare system, which mainly protects heterosexual lives. In this study were 5 lesbian couples aged 24 to 33 years old interviewed, who had sustained relationships for more than one year. This study used qualitative method; the research data were collected with semi-structured interview and analyzed by constant comparative method. 　 　　According to the research findings, there was no difference between lesbian’s relationship and the heterosexual’s. Generally lesbian’s relationships were undervaluated, whereas only family members have rights to claim on the right of ownership/inheritance of housing, medical visitation and planning, and beneficiaries of insurance. Therefore, lesbian couples with substantial relationship could only ensure each other’s lives in terms of the non-kinship law in Taiwan.
