Recently, several optimal resource allocation strategies have been presented with focuses on maximizing the system capacity, maximizing the fairness or minimizing the transmission power. However, the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) issue of multicarrier technique is rarely considered in those strategies which may result in bit error rate (BER) performance degradation due to nonlinear distortion of practical power amplifiers. In this research, the tone reservation (TR) mechanism is smoothly combined with resource allocation strategies to effectively reduce the PAPR. To satisfy various design requirements, with the fairness taken into account, two kinds of constrained optimization criteria have been proposed along with the associated suboptimal low-complexity algorithms for resource allocation in OFDMA systems. The first criterion maximizes the system capacity subject to a constraint on the value of PAPR, and the other one minimizes the value of PAPR subject to a low bound of the system capacity. The efficacy of the proposed criteria and the corresponding algorithms is verified by computer simulations. According to the simulation results, the proposed approaches achieve lower PAPR as well as lower BER, while keeping desired system capacity and fairness, in comparison with a conventional method. The results of this thesis can be used for resource allocation in transmitter of an OFDMA system. Ching-Yung Chen 陳慶永 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 117 zh-TW
