Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄師範大學 === 地理學系 === 100 === Villages, the significant human scenery on earth, are the places where people inhabit. The types and distributions of the villages are the productions formed by the correlation between the people and the natural surroundings. Therefore, villages are the landscape that can display the interaction between human and the earth. Sigang District is located at the downstream of Zengwun River. In the 17th century, it belonged to Taichiang. Geographically, it was a lagoon; therefore it naturally became a harbor. In 19th century, its inland was cultivated as fish farms or salt pans and that accelerated the land reclamation. Consequently, the shape of Sigang District has increasingly been formed as what it appears today. In early days, Zengwun River was called as “Blind Snake.” Since the 17th century, there had been four major course changes of Zengwun River. Because of the location of Sigang District, it still has the remains of the old track of Zengwun River. Besides, the current Zengwun River course has also divided Sigang District into two parts and that has caused the migration of the villages in Sigang District. Not until 1939, the project of regulating the river and watercourses had been done, has Zengwun River been stabilized its course. This paper wanted to investigate, since the 17th century, Sigang District, located at the downstream of Zengwun River, how the changes of river causes had resulted in the village migration and the human reaction to adapt to the surroundings and also the development of the villages after the regulation project had been done. The researcher wanted to display the characteristics that Sigang District habitants have adapted themselves according to these geographical changes and time movement.
