In order to reach this purpose, the study adopts the method of questionnaire survey. The survey instrument is a questionnaire entitled “The Questionnaire of Foreign Spouses’ Literacy Learning Effectiveness and Life Adaptation”. The study objects were the foreign spouses who studied in adult education in Ping Tung County during the last four months in 2011. There are 124 effective samples. Based on the analyzed data of the questionnaire ,the results are gained by descriptive statistics, Independent -Samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe`s test, Pearson product -moment correlation method and multiple regression analysis. The main results of the study are as follows: 1.Foreign spouses’ literacy learning effectiveness is in good condition 2.Foreign spouses’ life adaptation is between fair and good condition 3.The longer the foreign spouses have lived in Taiwan, the better their learning effectiveness is. 4.The longer the foreign spouses have studied in adult education, the better their learning effectiveness is. 5.Foreign spouses who graduated from senior high have better social and family adaptation than those from junior high and elementary schools. 6.The longer the foreign spouses have studied in adult education, the better their social adaptation and family adaptation are. 7.The better the foreign spouses’ learning effectiveness is, the better their life adaptation is. 8.Foreign spouses’ literacy learning effectiveness has an influence on their life adaptation. 9.Foreign spouses needs improvement in tutoring their children.
