This study implemented a descriptive and correlational design. By using convenience sampling method, these questionnaires were handed out to junior high school students in Houli Dist, Taichung City. The number of delivered questionnaires was 560, and the number of effective questionnaires was 450. Furthermore, the return rate was 80.4%.Measurement tools included “Personal Trait Inventory”, “Taiwan Relationship Inventory for Child and Adolences (TRICA)”, “Center for Economic and Social Development (CES-D)”, “Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation into Chinese (PANSI-C)”, and a demographic questionnaire. The data were analyzed by Statistics Package for Social Science (SPSS) for Windows 18.0 and SAS 9.2, and statistical analyses included frequency distribution, percentages, means, standard deviations, Chi-Square Test, Independent-Samples t Test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-moment correlation, Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis and Tobit model regression. The study results showed that “girls”, “eighth-graders”, “smoking”, “drinking”, “dissatisfied with their health status”, “not living with their parent”, “father died”, “low-income and need government subsidies”, and “dissatisfied with their academic performance” had higher suicidal ideation score than the others; but age, family history of suicidal behavior, parents’ education level, and parents’ occupation were not significantly correlated with suicidal ideation. No participants used drugs, the measured data can’t be analyzed. “Personal trait” and “interpersonal relationships” showed negative correlation with suicidal ideation. “Depression” showed positive correlation with and suicidal ideation. The best predictors of suicidal ideation were “seven-graders” , “drinker”, “dissatisfied with their health status” , “low-income households”, “personal trait”, “interpersonal relationships”, and “depression”. According the results above, the nursing education for both nurses and nursing students should focus on the topic related to suicidal prevention, so that both nurses and nursing students are capable of identifying those adolescents with suicidal ideation and then referring them to appreciate health professionals. By doing so, it is hoped that suicidal rate in adolescents could be dropped. Hui-Ju Chiu 邱慧洳 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 115 zh-TW
