Knowledge , Attitudes and Behavior About Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education of Taipei City Kindergarten Parents.

碩士 === 國立臺北護理健康大學 === 嬰幼兒保育研究所 === 100 === Abstract The research focuses on the discussion on the situation about how the parents of kindergarten children in Taipei city see the issues on the education about the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault, attitude and behaviors. I will analyze how “the education about the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault”, “attitude”, “behaviors” change with different backgrounds. I use questionnaires designed for the parents of kindergarten children in Taipei City. At total I gave out 1423 questionnaires and got 951 back. Among them, 890 are effective ones. The methodologies include descriptive statistics, t test, one way ANOVA, Pearson Correction and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results are as following: 1. The mostly in the parent-child relationship is “mother” whose age is mostly between thirty to thirty-nine. Most of them receive college education and most of them are “housewives” or in the service business. Their total family income is between the range of “seventy thousand and one to ten thousand” to “thirty thousand and one to five thousand”. Only 4.6％ of them have encountered events about child’s sexual assault and only eight percent of parents have participated the related activities. The main sources of the related information are TV news. They get least information from the kindergarten. 2. The educational knowledge about the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault: The percentage of correct answer is 86.1 percent. Among them, the highest percentage shows in the category of “the methods to handle child’s sexual assault”. The lowest percentage shows in “the myth of child’s sexual assault”. Attitude: the average of the overall scale of attitude is 4.37. The attitude tends to be positive. Among all, the highest score is in the category of “the self-right of children and the education on the equality of sexuality”. The lowest one goes to “the attitude towards the victims of child’s sexual assault”. Behaviors: Among all the behaviors of preventing child’s sexual assault, most people choose “I am willing to notice the related information related to child’s sexual assault”. In “the contents of how to educate children on the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault, “getting to know our body”, “the way to protect ourselves” and “Children, you have the right to say No” take most portions. Concerning the behaviors of “Participating the related workshops or activities on child’s sexual assault in the future”, more than seventy percent of parents show their willingness of joining the related programs and events held by the kindergarten. More than ninety percent of parents expect to obtain the related information from the kindergarten. The mostly expected information is about “how to teach children about the detail of child’s sexual assault”. More parents want to have the information through “Parent-Kid Learning Sheet”. 3. The knowledge on the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault will change significantly with the “age”, “level of education”, “total family income” and “children’s sexuality” of parents. The attitude toward the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault will change significantly with the “age”, “level of education”, “children’s sexuality” and “encounter of child’s sexual assault” of parents. The behaviors about the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault will change significantly with “children’s sexuality” and “participation in the activities related to the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault of parents”. 4. The knowledge about the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault an d the attitude of the parents of kindergarten children are related is a positive way. The attitude of education on the prophylaxis of child’s sexual assault and the behaviors also show their significant connection. In the end I will make suggestions according to my research results and hopefully it can be the reference for the government, the related organizations, the kindergarten and future researchers.
