Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣體育運動大學 === 體育研究所 === 100 === Most of the conflicts in baseball game are caused by hitting by pitch. There is so called “unwritten rules” in baseball game. If someone breaks the unwritten rules, the pitcher will intentionally hit someone or throw the ball in revenge in order to give vent to one's indignation, or seek justice after being humiliated or provoked. Due to differences between the East and West in sports, foreign players in Taiwan or homegrown players who play oversea do not have the same concepts and are involved in numerous conflicts that become a focus on the baseball field. Everyone has his own opinion based on different sport ethnics and circumstances on deliberate hit-batsman pitch or its reprisals caused by the unwritten rules. The purpose of this study is to find out the reasons of deliberate hit-batsman pitch resulted from the violation of unwritten ruled. In addition, the researcher uses Taiwan’s cases from the past combined with in-depth interviews with retired and active players and coaches in order to understand the phenomena from the point of view of ethnic and morality. The conclusion of this study is the impact of deliberately hit-batsman pitch caused by the unwritten rules on the levels of professional baseball, amateur baseball, grass-roots baseball, and in international competitions. Moreover, whether this kind of conducts and behaviors should exist in each baseball level is also discussed.
