碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 區域與社會發展學系碩士班 === 100 === Abstract I would take the form of half open to deeply interview 4 ladies of Tzu Chi, and then to cite the theories of conversion inside and outside country to code and offer an analysis, considering that the background of traditional culture and religion, the past experience of personal growth play a critical influential part in people’s decision about whether conversion or not. What I did is to make an attempt at getting the 3-goal as follows: 1. What’s the reason of the female interviewee joining in Tzu Chi? 2. What’s the past experience of the female interviewee making a conversion? 3. What’s the convert of the female interviewee becoming a Tzu Chi volunteer? This study is first to research into the documents concerned, and then choose 4 female Tzu Chi Honorary Board Members who joining in Tzu Chi have been more than 10 years to be as interviewees, the deeply interviewed information attained are analyzed, meanwhile, visited and observed it in practice for several times. To be by means of the tendency to study life history, it tries to appear the lives course and experience of conversion of the 4 ladies to realize that the female ladies’ reason and result of conversion under the impact of social tradition and modern culture. This study found the following: 1. Living hard in early stages fired up the people of conversion to seek for religious consolation. 2. Tzu Chi’s seeds of charity are deeply implanted in people’s mind, the people of conversion need our support indeed. 3. Religious principles of Tzu Chi made people relived and pushed the people of conversion are willing to devote themselves. Keywords: Tzu Chi, Conversion, Life History
