This study was not only made to discuss the background, content and meaning of the visual art education which character education integrated into, but also constructed the methods of adopting character education into visual art education in primary schools. This study mainly used the action research method and designed the visual art courses that were based on character education. By introducing artistic productions, the study guided students to admire and create artistic works.Let students understand the artists’ background and history and also realize the affection and concern to the society from the artistic works. Let students realize the value of various resources, appreciate other’s devotion and raise the moral behavior in the process of artistic creation. These visual art courses were focused on the 4th graders of the primary school in Tainan City, and the study had been lasting for fourteen weeks. The study collected, summarized, analyzed and concluded all the information from students’ self comments, collaborative observation and interviews from teachers and feedback from parents. Based on the result of the study, it brought up some suggestions for the reference of the visual art courses, character education and further investigations. According to the findings, several conclusions are presented as follows: 1. It helps students raise the moral behavior highly by integrating character education into visual art courses. 2. It can help students raise their learning motivation of the visual art courses by integrating character education into visual art courses. 3. For the course that integrates character education into visual art, there was no specific instruction objective to follow.
