Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 資訊科學系 === 100 === In vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET), the vehicle speed is fast and the communication range is not fully covered. These situations will cause serious delay problems and packet loss because of frequent registration. In addition, in order to reduce deployment, the number of Road Side Unit (RSU)
will be reduced and there will be communication gaps between two RSUs. In the gap, the vehicles use multi-hop way to assist in forwarding data packets in order to solve the problem of communication breakdown. Multi-hop forwarding will cause large packet delay. When the vehicle did not reach the next RSU range it cannot be registered with the RSU, so the data packet can be forwarded from the previous RSU to the target vehicle via multi-hop forwarding.
In this thesis, we use Global Positioning System (GPS) information as a route basis to pre-register with the new RSU in order to reduce forwarding hop count. The experimental results show that our method can reduce the packet transmission delay.
