Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 環境生態研究所碩士班 === 100 === With the great advances in information technology (IT), mobile communication devices such as smart phones, wireless local area networks (WLAN), and other wireless communication systems have become increasingly popular around the world. Based on this IT progress, the majority of Taiwan schools at all levels have developed wireless networks around campuses and have created a ubiquitous learning (U-Learning) environment. Moreover, in our time of great emphasis on energy and climate change, mitigating global warming by reducing the waste of resources is a very important issue for humans; therefore, environmental education must be the key method to achieve the objective. This led to the legislation of the Environmental Education Act.
In this study, a mobile learning system with the embedding of information technology into environmental education is designed, and the U-Learning technology is expected to facilitate students’ learning in the diversified environment education domain. Also the Q-R Code information system and Green Map are linked together to give the advantage of action learning for environment education. The new platform integrates Green Map with international video navigation functions. To evaluate the value of this pioneer system, TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) is exercised to discover the factors that influence teachers’ desires when using the system.
The results showed that teachers’ capabilities of using the information systems is determined by their backgrounds, including gender, age, seniority, environmental education related courses taken or not, the awareness of Q-R Code information system, the experience of using the Q-R Code information system, the functions of their personal cell phones, the experience of using cell phones, and the frequency of using various functions in their cell phones. Moreover, teachers’ perceptions of the system’s usability and usefulness are affected by six variables: gender, age, environmental education related courses taken or not, the interest in Green Map system, the awareness of the Q-R Code information system, and the experience of using the Q-R Code information systems.
TAM analysis indicated that correlations of all one-on-one analyses on the variables are relatively significant. First, the correlation coefficient between the usability of Q-R Code information system and the usefulness of the system is up to 0.749, indicating when teachers highly perceive the usability of the system, they tend to have more positive views on the usefulness of the system. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficient between the usefulness of Q-R Code information system and the desire of using the system is up to 0.874, indicating when teachers highly perceive the usefulness of the Q-R Code information system, they tend to have more positive desires on using the system. In summary, teachers with great satisfactions on the use of Q-R Code information system will increase their use of the system, indicating the practicality of Q-R Code Green Map Information System on environmental education is significant.
