The subjects of this study were the ninth grade of junior high school students, and the selected teaching materials were《The Report Card》and《The School Story》written by Andrew Clements. Accordingly, the courses were designed with a focus on students’hope of academic learning as to realize the effects of the courses on the ninth grade junior high school students of academic learning problems:a lack of goals, a lack of good pathways, and a lack of sufficient willpower. Furthermore, the study considered what kinds of issues could be developed, and how the students liked the literature discussion courses. The action research data of this study were students’ diary, learning sheets, the researcher’s reflection , a series of interviews, observations and documentary analyses. The main findings of this study were concluded as follows: 1.The materials could be summarized to 5 themes: the coping strategies of frustration, self-understanding, personal relationship with others, the means of solving problem and willpower. 2.The students’ problems had improved but still continued to give them concern. 3.The most interesting issue students liked was about academic frustration and willpower; and the most boring one was about comparing with other people. 4.Students enjoyed the literature discussion courses. Finally, based on the results, the action research of textual discussion on students’hope of academic learning was discussed and the suggestions for teachers, educators, and further researches were proposed. 唐淑華 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 314 zh-TW
