GPS has become one of the main 3C products. GPS industry in Taiwan is top 3 of the world, combined the industry chain from upstream to downstream. However, related researches were focused more on product development of GPS itself than the operational performance of GPS. This study introduces Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) to analyze the operational performances of 8 listed GPS companies including PAPAGO, Inc. (3632), HOLUX (3431), ABC Taiwan Electronics Corp. (3236), GlobalSat Technology Corp. (3499), RoyalTek (3306), Leadtek Research Inc. (2465), Transystem Inc. (5348) and INPAQ (6284) for operators’ reference. The findings are as follows: 1.From the analysis of input and output improvement volumes against the targets of each company during 2008- 2010, HOLUX and GlobalSat Technology have been required to improve the input and output volumes for 3 years with caution. 2.Scale efficiency (SE) of PAPAGO, RoyalTek, and Leadtek Research equals to 1, which shows their statuses are the most productive scale size with ideal operational efficiency/ output. Because the scale efficiency (SE) of ABC Taiwan Electronics, GlobalSat Technology, and INPAQ are less than 1, this indicates the scale of those companies are decreasing (DRS) and they should consider to decrease resource input. 3.Regarding the change in MPI productivity, GlobalSat Technology Corp is the one that improved the most.
