However, the main weakness of MIMO-OFDM lies in its high peak -to-average power ratio(PAPR), which lowers the efficiency, leading to the cost increase of RF power amplifier. In this thesis, we deal with a hybrid MIMO-OFDM system with the space-time block code (STBC) incorporated and propose a new method for PAPR reduction. The proposed method uses subband permutation (SP) on OFDM symbols to produce more symbol candidates and adopts the progressive selected mapping (SLM) scheme in a recursive fashion to reduce PAPR, under the same computational complexity assessed by the required number of Fourier transform. Simulation results show that, the proposed method has the best capability of reducing PAPR among the traditional methods of Individual SLM, Concurrent SLM ,and Progressive SLM.
