Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 100 === In this thesis, we discuss the challenge of improving new Taiwanese children’s language ability. We design 11-week courses and music games, which are all related to Chinese language, and conduct an action research to evaluate the improvement of new Taiwanese children’s language ability after teaching those children with the designed courses. The experiments were conducted on eleven third graders in an elementary school in Kaohsiung. Research tools, including background investigation, expert consultation, classroom observation, reflective note, teacher interview and the questionnaire surveys for students’ assessment, were used to evaluate the improvement of new Taiwanese children’s language ability. The experimental results show that: 1. Music games can facilitate the learning and the teaching of language, and help to develop the language ability of children. 2. Rhythm in language of music game can be easily combined with language learning activities to further improve the language learning of new Taiwanese children. 3. Song singing, which needs students to learn the pronunciation and the language grammar, can strengthen children’s language ability. iii 4. Eurhythmics of music game, developing children’s aural comprehension and sociality, can improve the language learning ability of new Taiwanese children. After 11 week courses, all subjects’ teachers and parents were interveiewed and most of them found that the subjects’ communicative competence, vocabulary, speaking and listening ability are improved. The interviewers also found that the designed courses have positive effect on the subjects’ daily performance. Based on the above observations, we believe that using music game in language teaching can comprehensively improve the Taiwanese children’s language ability. Finally, we provide suggestions for textbook editors, teachers, educational organizations/governments and the future researchers.
