Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 100 === This study aimed to explore the training of the recorder ensemble of the elementary school in Keelung City and mainly investigated three aspects, including “organization management,” “instruction” and “music contest.” Moreover, the influence of different context variables on the training of the recorder ensemble of the elementary school was also examined in the present study.
This study adopted survey research and designed a research tool named “Questionnaire for the Training of the Recorder Ensemble of the Elementary School in Keelung City” to conduct the general survey for all the teachers who ever instructed recorder ensemble of the elementary school in Keelung City within five years. SPSS 18.0 Chinese Version was adopted to statistically analyze research data. In addition, descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used to make further statistical analysis. Qualitative data was also collected. The research findings were as follows:
I. In the aspect of organization management for the recorder ensemble of the elementary school, “member selection and team management” showed good performance. However, “member recruitment and selection” was much more challenging especially in small-sized schools. In terms of “funds and purchasing of software and hardware,” schools usually provided sufficient support and the decisions of purchasing musical instrument and equipment were usually related to whether teachers were expert at band. As for “school administration and parents support,” “school administration” had good effect on the support and coordination of teacher’s work while “parents support and establishment of parents committee” is the worst part.
II. In terms of the instruction for the recorder ensemble of the elementary school, teachers showed excellent ability of “basic instruction of playing recorder.” The self-awareness in this part was significantly related to whether teachers had participated to wooden flute ensembles. Teachers generally showed good performance on “selection and edition of teaching material” while “self-edition of teaching material” left much room for improvement. Moreover, teachers were also excellent in “capability of ensemble instruction” as well as “music interpretation and appreciation.” Different context variables did not result in any significant variation. Besides, the score was the lowest in “meeting and co-holding music concern,” which suggested that the meeting were not common among ensembles in Keelung City.
III. In the aspect of music contest for the recorder ensemble of the elementary school, teachers generally had highly recognition toward “the meaning of music contest.” In addition, both scores of “school expectation and teacher pressure” and “contest participation” were above the average of three points, which reflected the practical pressure teachers felt in music contests. Among the items, the score was highest in “the trend that participating teams show better performance in the following year.” Moreover, “school’s high expectation of recorder ensemble” and “urgency of practice” were both the reasons which led to teachers’ pressure. “System of turn-taking instruction” was worst, suggesting teachers of recorder ensemble in Keelung City have to undertake and face the pressure caused by music contest.
