Through semi-structured in-depth interviews with three mothers, three texts were gathered and analyzed by the thematic analysis. All using Child-centered Play Therapy, the durations of the three collaborative therapeutic relationships were 9 months, 1 year and 2 years, respectively. The building of a collaborative therapeutic relationship between the mothers and the therapists is a gradual process. From subjective experience report of the three mothers, the psychological process of the mothers involving in collaborative relationship with play therapists is: the Initiative Stage, the Trustingness Stage, and finally the Partnership Stage. Also, the research shows seven core factors facilitated the collaborative relationship: practical help from receiving therapy, perceiving acceptance from play therapist, being affirmed by play therapist, increase of self awareness in interaction between mother and child, demonstration and inspiration from play therapist, recovering of motherhood, crisis management in the relationship. At the Initiative Stage of the relationship, the mothers bring emotions due to children, expectations and imagines into the relationship, and start to collect clues of the trustworthiness of the therapists. On entering the Trustingness Stage, the mothers show three traits: the deepening of trust and emotional bond towards the therapist, willingness to take risks, and being more active to participate in the treatment. During the last stage, the mothers and the therapists have formed a stabilized partnership. Not only do the mothers become helpers of the therapists, but they also internalize patterns of the therapists. Mothers explore more deeply their own parenting experiences, and turn their focus of the problems toward themselves. The collaborative therapeutic relationship between the mothers and the therapists matches the three featuress of Bordin’s work alience, which are an agreemdnt on goals, an agreemdnt of task, and the development of bonds. The development of the collaborative relationship between the mothers and the play therapists is centered on the child. In the process, the mothers build their self-image as a mother together with play therapists. They answer the main question deeply concerning the mothers: ‘Am I a good mother?’ So for the mothers, the process of the collaborative relationship is a road to recover motherhood! The positive experiences that foster collaborative relationship can be inducted into three effective means, in which also the interaction between mother and play therapist surrounds. The three effective means are self-confidence, ability, and self-care. Several characteristics exist in the overview of the process of successful collaborative relationship between mother and play therapist. These characteristics are: changing from working relationship to personal relationship of the mother, a healing relationship, a partnership withstands, and a process that begins with family systemic needs and ends with family systemic change.
