Abstract
In the global competitive atmosphere, the boundaries between economics, culture, as well as other facets are becoming ever increasingly blurred. The importance of global competitiveness is slowly decreasing, and in its place is the competition between cities. The importance the role a city plays has succeeded the country’s role. Under this trend, a city’s competitiveness and metropolitan charisma has become a crucial point of discussion. In order to positively face the challenges of competition, cities all over the world, on the whole, are actively adjusting city governance structures, spatial planning, industry development, etc. Consequently, the valuation of a city has presently become a topic of great interest – “creative city.”
This study investigates Taipei City creative city’s developmental condition, and seeks to understand how denizens feel toward the city construct that has taken shape. Through the collecting of creative city theory, related creative city indices of various countries, and Taipei City’s current creative city development situation and related records, with analysis, we build-up Taipei City creative city’s initial research content. The research method is to conduct secondary confirmatory analysis (SCFA) and to build-up a complete structural equation model (SEM). This is a qualitative study, with questionnaires as the main tool.
Through secondary confirmatory analysis results, we find that from the perspective of the denizens, the initial construct formed by Taipei City’s development of the creative city is “openness” and “tolerance”; the type of city construct is similar to the Taipei Department of Cultural Affairs’ policy results; the level of identification with the facets of creative talents and knowledge are high; technological development
must be furthered through a strengthening of skill. This study advises the current governing administration to focus all of Taipei City’s strengths, highlight the city’s uniqueness; in order to promote a creative economy, and strengthen technological development
