Under this concept, the dormitories, storehouses, and factory buildings of the state government are suitable for resuming. Much governmental soil was destroyed from the Japan ruled period and postwar of Chinese Taiwan government. Till now, the unused dormitories were still remained. Thus, this study focus on the distribution and characterization of the idle policed dormitories in Taitung, and refer the execute proposal to reuse the vacant space of the policed dormitories. Taitung had the faultless urban plan during the Japan ruled period, the government institution, police office and policed dormitories were dispersed in the Taitung urban. After field interview, we found that most of the policed dormitories were distributed at the Fu-Jean Road, Shing-Sang Road, Ti-Hua Road, and Po-Ai Road. Based on the different situation of dormitories, we had different processed methods to resume them. This study will focus on the policed dormitories located on the Fu-Jean Road. The field investigation and interview methods were used to inquire the culture room, the police office, and the head of the neighborhood. We found that many questions, for example, retrieved the ownership of the dormitory, the limitation of the funds for operation, and the adoption of different opinions, were appeared if we want to promote the plan to reuse the unused space.. All questions leaded to the effect of promoting the reuse of the vacancy space and the useful space after resumed.
