In this paper, we explain how to exploit the reference signals to estimate the channel frequency response in LTE downlink system. We will consider a common problem called edge effect during the process, it will decrease the estimation accuracy on band edge subcarriers. In order to alleviate this phenomenon, we propose a virtual subcarrier estimator to ease the influence. Furthermore, we adopt NLMS (Normalized Least Mean Square) to enhance the improvement of virtual subcarrier estimator. Finally, we discuss the case when MIMO scheme was adopted.
